Out of the Fire cordially invites you and your friends to attend annual fundraiser event to benefit The Chesapeake Film Festival Featuring Artist Billy Pappas The subject of Little Bird Films documentary 'Waiting for Hockney'.

'Waiting for Hockney' is a comic and poignant tale of a Baltimore man and the people who believe in him as they collude and collide for an entire decade in the service of a grand idea. Billy has decided that his mission in life is to reinvent realism. He spends eight years on a single drawing of Marilyn Monroe working to show a microscopic level of detail he hopes will reveal something deeper than photography.

WARLORD Screening

Join Friends of the Chesapeake Film Festival at Tanuki's on May 7 for a special screening of the short film David Garrett shot in Easton several years ago.

This short has won several festival awards since its premiere in Rotterdam last year and now's your chance to see it. David will be present to talk about the experience. Lots of local residents, including kids, provide the background, so come see who you know and enjoy the special menu Tanuki's is creating for the event.

Chesapeake Film Festival Oscar Party

7:00 to 10:00 p.m. General Tanuki's in Easton

The Executive Board of the Chesapeake Film Festival invites you to join them for an informal gathering and viewing of the Oscar telecast on Sunday, February 24 at General Tanuki's restaurant. We will be gathering at 7:00. The red carpet broadcast starts at 8:00 with the awards show beginning at 8:30. Hopefully, the Oscar award for best documentary will be early in the broadcast so we can cheer on our local favorite, WAR/DANCE! The party will last until 10:00. There is no entrance fee.

We are also sponsoring a 50/50 "Pick the Oscars" contest to raise funds for the Sept. 19-21, 2008 Festival and to add a little excitement to the broadcast. You DO NOT have to attend the party in order to enter and win the contest. The winner will receive half of the total amount of the entry fees with the other half going into the general fund for the film festival. The entry fee is only $10, so vote early and often!!!
